Spier railway station.
Spier's railway station where you disembark and embark with a special train from Cape Town to Spier via Metrorail.

WE, Hilary and I were treated to 5 star brilliance by Wendy Burridge.
When we arrived we were escorted to the Eagle Encounters as a show was about to start.

We spent a good couple of hours just listening to the guides and wandering around the enclosures where we observed owls, eagles, hawks, kites, vultures, secretary birds and even a porcupine. From the guides, I understand that these are birds that have been either injured or kept illegally and are brought here to be nursed or rehabilitated in one form or another to be put back into the wild as far as possible.

Some of the birds at Spier Eagle Encounter.

The pond with its weeping willows, fish and bird life are a visitor magnet. Many photos have been taken around the pond with its lush green lawn just inviting you to have a picnic. Picnic baskets is available from Eight restaurant/deli. Just give them a call in advance to avoid disappointment.

The Dam at Spier.

The grounds at Spier are enormous with many weddings and receptions taking place here! What scenery, what a pleasure for photographers!

We were then given a tour of the wine tasting room and whisked off to Eight. This is a deli restaurant that really has their act together. Very few restaurants of this size can come up with a menu like this one can.

The proof was in tasting. What an absolutely gastronomic experience.
I thought that this excellent experience was just for me but alas I am sad to say that everyone I observed was in the same throes of gastronomical ecstasy and were really enjoying the food that was placed exactly as they ordered in front of them. What an experience!

Restaurant/Deli 8.

Honeybun Deli

Honeybun Deli in 107 Lower Main Rd Observatory Cape Town

Aaahhh what a wonderful place, with its own contemporary style and panache that is not unfamiliar in its surroundings. There, everything screeches to a halt!
Honeybun Deli serves up the most decadent food you can imagine. With their own in house chef this place literally cooks! With the early morning breakfasts which you will find hard to beat this Deli is out to make a name for itself.
The smoothies that they whip up are absolutely out of this world. This has to be investigated!

The above is one of their lip-smacking lekkà platters which were made by their own in house chef for the #newmenulaunch.

Honeybun Deli specialties include the following:
  • Open sandwiches served on white farm loaf, brown farm loaf, ciabatta or as a wrap.
  • Asian Fish Burger served with red cabbage radish
  • Cape Malay Chicken Curry
  • Smoothies: Berry Blaze, Strawbana, Peanut Butter, Chai, Coffee, Brekkie as well as the Skinny Smoothies: Watermelon Mint (Top Seller), Lemon Drop, Summer Breeze, Iced Cappuccino (Top Seller) & Mango Tango.
  • Lindt Chocolate Brownies served with Ice Cream
  • Homemade Traditional Milk Tart
I have to mention the dessert! This one is a Lindt chocolate brownie inside a glass! sooooo delicious

All in all, this is a place I will definately visit again and certainly spread the word!

Shark Alley

Alpha Dive Centre

Scuba Dive Cape Town with Alpha Dive Centre Cape Town

Shark Alley

Scuba Diving Cape Town with  Alpha Dive Centre I went to their you tube channel and saw they made this video of Shark Alley, I have to admit that I am considering them much more now than before for training to become a diver, They just have that professional touch that I like and admire. I am sure that you will have to go far to get that type of professionalism.

I also saw on their web site that they have numerous outings, trips and dive safaris that they arrange throughout the year. When it is really cold in Cape Town for any Scuba Diving in Cape Town they head for the Red Sea and have a live aboard safari where they have a couple of days forgetting about Cape Town's baby weather.

What I admire most is the amount of courses they have available and they are always ready to talk and encourage anyone to do their best.

I personally will give them a try.

P.S. Keep up to date and let’s see where this will take me.
